The NHS European Office was launched in September 2007 to represents the English National Health Service (NHS) in Europe. The Office’s role includes informing NHS organisations of key EU developments and promoting the priorities and interests of the NHS to European policy makers.
The NHS European Office's main objectives include:
- monitoring EU policy and legislative developments which are important to the NHS

- carrying out impact assessments of key EU proposals and influencing them in the interest of the NHS
- informing NHS organisations of EU support for innovation and funding opportunities
When looking at employment-related EU policies and initiatives, the Office works closely with NHS Employers, which represents NHS organisations in England on workforce issues. Both the NHS European Office and NHS Employers are part of the NHS Confederation, the independent membership body for the full range of organisations that make up the modern NHS.
